How To Stop Stainless Steel Sink From Scratching

2026-06-30

A stainless steel sink is durable, but not scratch-proof. Cutlery, cookware, metal pads, sand, and hard particles can leave visible marks. Prevention depends on proper care and controlled manufacturing.

Choose The Right Material And Finish

Grade 304 stainless steel is widely used for sinks because it combines formability, corrosion resistance, and strength. EN 10088-2 lists 1.4301 stainless steel with 17.5 to 19.5 percent chromium and 8.0 to 10.5 percent nickel. ASTM A240 data gives 304 sheet a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa and maximum hardness of 201 HBW.

Strength alone cannot stop scratches. A uniform brushed finish usually hides light wear better than a reflective surface. During OEM and ODM development, confirm the grain direction, sheet thickness, bowl depth, corner radius, and accessory contact points before approving samples.

Control Production Quality

A stainless steel sink manufacturer can directly manage sheet inspection, cutting, forming, welding, polishing, cleaning, assembly, and packing. Protective film should remain intact, while dies and worktables must be kept free from metal chips.

Quality control checkpoints should cover material grade, thickness, surface consistency, weld quality, drainage, leakage testing, and packaging. This direct control distinguishes a manufacturer from a trader and improves defect tracing and consistency across bulk supply.

Prevent Scratches During Use

Clean along the grain with mild detergent and a soft cloth. Stainless steel maintenance guidance recommends avoiding ordinary steel wool and hard abrasive tools because they can leave scratches or contaminating particles. Rinse away sand before wiping, avoid dragging cookware, and use a bottom grid for heavy utensils.

For project sourcing, check material standards, approved finish samples, inspection criteria, protective packaging, labeling, accessories, and export market compliance. SHUNHAN supports product design, structural development, OEM and ODM sampling, quality inspection, and one-stop bulk production to maintain specifications from approval to shipment.
